A key player in travel retail confectionery, Irish family-owned company, Butlers Chocolates are pleased to announce a major upgrade to one of their most popular packaging formats.
Butlers are unveiling a new, fully recyclable paper wrap for its beloved twist-wrapped truffles which will be introduced over 2025. This move from Butlers Chocolates will contribute to a reduction in approximately 15 tonnes of waste annually.
This project has been thoughtfully planned as part of Butlers Chocolates ongoing commitment to more considered and progressive environmental and sustainable practices across all areas of the business. It reflects their dedication to doing what’s right for the planet and this latest improvement builds on Butlers many other sustainability commitments, including:
- Solar Panels – Butlers’ factory roof has over 7000 sq. m. of solar panels, accounting for over 20% of the factory’s annual power requirements. That’s the same size as the Dublin’s famous Aviva Stadium pitch!
- Sustainably sourced cocoa and Fairtrade coffee
- Move to EV for company vehicles
- Sustainable Packaging. The ribbons on Butlers Easter Eggs are made from recycled plastic bottles and packaging is fully recyclable. Recent years have seen a move from recyclable plastic used to protect Easter eggs to using paper instead.
- Zero Palm Oil in any Butlers Chocolate products
- Zero Waste to Landfill at the factory.
Managing Director, Karl Marnane comments: “We are very pleased to announce this major development today as part of our continuing sustainability initiatives. It represents a meaningful commitment to the environment and our impact on it. There has been significant effort and hard work in the background to get to this point and as a team, we are very proud to make this change”.
